Sky Sport

Last week on Wednesday, Sky Sport came to Pt England School, and they filmed the Netball team. They filmed them playing Netball on the junior courts. It was for, Sky Sport -National News -Global. They were giving opportunities to Point England Students. We were also making something little into something big. Precious was also umpiring to help her mum pay the bills for her house. The courts also needs to get fixed. The concrete needs to fixed because there are lots of cracks in it. But the hoops are really old. But they also need the fees for the uniforms too. We watched it in class this morning. We also watched it on the news after morning tea too. But it was part 1. We are watching part 2 on the news tomorrow.

GRADE 5

c) I'm going into Grade 5 this year 

(starting tomorrow!) and Dad says Grade 5 was the best year of his life. He thinks I should write down all the things that happen each day so that when i'm an oldie like him i can look back and remember all the amazing and fun things I did over the year. Well, that's what they think, anyway. My best friend Zoe has a diary, and she says that you can tell it all your secrets and stuff about how you feel, like when something makes you sad or angry.

I'm going to tell you absolutely everything, Dearest Diary. But trust me-i'd never let anyone else get there hands on you ... EVER

So, here's my first secret, and only you will know. I'm um . . . a little bit nervous about going back to School tomorrow. Phew, I said it!

We've got a new teacher this year. What if we don't get on? Or she wants us to spend the whole year doing maths problems or boring stuff like the names of rivers and capital cities?

Mr Zugaro, my teacher last year, was amazing. We made up our own plays and acted them out and wrote all kinds of stories. He even showed us lots of different ways to write poems, which I love! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ 

And now I write them all the time. Here, in my room-not just for School. I guess you could call me a SECRET SCRIBBLER.

Oops! My little sister Olivia just came in but I managed to hide you under my pillow just in time. When it comes to people I don't want reading my, Olivia is at the top of list.

The Chocolate Factory,Descriptive Writing

IF I WAS IN A CHOCOLATE FACTORY FOR 24 HOURS WHAT WOULD I DO?
I would check out all the candy they have and also eat all the candy I can eat. The chocolatey chocolate waterfall will have lots of chocolate. If I ate that all I would get really sick. I think it would be just like the movie, Charlie and the chocolate factory. There will be chocolate, lollies, lollipops, bubblegum and much more candy. It will be the best day of my life if it actually happens. It would be so much fun, and I may be allowed to take my friends. We will be there all day eating all the candy we can eat for 24 hours. But if we ate a lot we would get a tummy ache. My favourite candy would probably be the chocolatey chocolate waterfall because there will be melted chocolate or it might be chocolate milk with extra chocolate.

David Attenborough Documentry Coastal Seas

Today we watched the Our Planet Documentary, narrated by David Attenborough, called Coastal Seas. Here are some interesting facts we learnt:

• 90 percent of marine creatures live coastal waters. This is because the sea floor is in reach of the sunlight.
• The documentary we watched was filmed in the Everglades National Park, in Florida USA.
• The lush meadows of the park support the marine life.
• The Giant Trevally and Sting Ray are extremely good hunters.
• Stingrays hunt for their prey that hide in the seagrass.
• There is a lot of food for the sea creatures, and for humans in the coastal waters.
• The bottlenose dolphin has a special way of hunting shoals of mullet. They create a circle around the fish and flick up the mud which makes the water murky - the mullet then get confused and jump up in the air, making it easy for the dolphins to catch the mullet.
• Coral reefs make up less than 1 % of all the marine species that live in the ocean.

• Coral reefs are missing an important member of the community-Sharks!
• Shark numbers have been dramatically reduced due to overfishing.
• Overfishing has reduced the shark population

Descriptive Language Writing. Dragon Story

Once Upon a time there were two girls named Phoenix and Julia. But
they were getting a bit bored. So they went on an adventure. They
went to a castle and when they got to the castle they saw a fierce
dragon with  long sharp nails. He had really sharp gooey teeth. But
then he trapped them in the castle and they couldn’t get out. A few
minutes later Phoenix found a note and the note said to look for a
lever. So they were looking for a lever. 1 minute later they found it. It
said to pull the lever. So Julia pulled it. When she pulled it another
note came out and it said. To find another lever. Because if you pull it
you will escape and get some weapons to defeat the dragon. You will
also get armour. So they pulled it and out came the weapons and

armour. So they put on some armour grabbed some weapons. But they
still had to find one more lever. So they were looking and looking for it.
But they couldn’t find it. It took them 6 hours to find it. It led them out
of the creepy dark castle. They were ready to fight the dragon. They
found some rope as well. But how were they supposed to fly? They
got there own dragon. So they got there dragon and flew up into the
air with their dragons big giant wings. They were gliding across the
sky following the fierce dragon. They couldn't catch up the fierce
dragon was too fast with his big wings. But they weren't giving up.
They were still trying to catch the dragon. So they grabbed the rope
and lasso it around the dragon. They were pulling it really hard that
the dragon couldn’t even breathe fire. Once they defeated him they
went back home and told there mum’s all about there adventure.

WHAT DO I LIKE MOST ABOUT NEW ZEALAND?

The thing that I like about New Zealand is the Schools because they don’t have that much schools in other countries and the schools in New Zealand is really fun. The other thing that I like about New Zealand is the fun places that they have like Rainbows End or the Zoo. The other things that I like about New Zealand is the stores that they have. Because with the stores that we have we can buy whatever we want. Also what I really like about New Zealand is the food. Because in other countries there food is really disgusting. I really like how we have lots of books and we also get them for free in schools. We also have lots of parks and lots of bikes and wheels. We also have lots of friends and family that lives in New Zealand. The other thing that I like about New Zealand is the devices because at my school we have Chromebooks. We also have really cool phones. Like iPhone and Samsung. We also have crayons and pencils and also rubbers. We also have really cool animals and sea animals. We have whales birds dogs cats lizards and much more. We also have really cool movies and really famous actors like Adam Sandler and Anna Kendrick. There really cool actors. We also have really cool boats. We also have kayaks.

A Healthy Sandwich

Step:1 first you get a healthy bread from the bag.Step:2.Then you put meat on it.Spread it out.Step:3 Next you chop slices from a tomato.Once you chopped up the tomato you spread it around.Step 4:Next you cut up the cucumbers the same way.Step 5:Once your done with the cucumbers you grate a carrot.When your done spread it around on your other ingredients.Once your done making your sandwich put another bread on top just like the photo.

WHAT IS A HEALTHY SANDWICH?   
1:A healthy sandwich is bread that makes you really really full.
2:A healthy sandwich has healthy things in it like veggies.What kind of veggies? Like lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrots, spinach, cabbage, and olives.Also you could put other healthy things in your sandwich.

WHAT INGREDIENTS WOULD YOU PUT IN A HEALTHY SANDWICH?

I would put lettuce,Cucumber,Avocado and purple and white onions.I would also put other things on there to make it really really healthy I would also do a lot more to make it the healthiest sandwich in the world.

Week2 Table Discussions

I am grateful for my family because they are always helpful and they always help me if I don’t know what to do. I’m also grateful for my friends because they always help me with my work at school and help me if I get a mistake with words that I don’t know about. I’m also grateful for my cousins because I really like playing with them and when they come over we always play blind man's bluff and it is really fun. We also watch Youtube on the tv. We always watch try not to laugh because it is really really really funny. Also we go on the tramp and play try not to touch the ball and also dodgeball. It is really really fun. Sometimes my cousin comes on a saturday and sundays, and we go to the flea market and get chicken kebabs and my cousin gets steak kebabs. Sometimes we get passion fruit drinks. One time we went to the flea market, we got a hotdog and it had melted cheese in it. I’m also grateful for softball because I really like catching the really high balls. I’m also grateful for school because I really like doing maths reading and writing.

If I could eat one food for the rest of my life it would be KFC because it is really yummy and so I can eat it for breakfast lunch and dinner.Also if I can drink one drink it would be Mountain Dew because I like it a lot.The food that I would eat from KFC would be the drumsticks and the fie because I really like the chicken skin.I also like the chips so I can dip it in the gravy so it won't be soggy and wet.I also like the raspberry drink because it is really tasty.

Term 1 Animation - Better Together

Hi my name is Julia and this is my Kia pai te kotahi animation. 

We had to create animations to show what teamwork looks like in our class.

In my first animation, the girl is stacking up the chair. We always stack the chairs at the end of the day. 

In my second animation, it is about working together. The boy and girl are helping each other to do their work on the chromebook.

Kiwi Sport Writing

My writing is going to be about kiwi sport. Kiwi sport is people come to your school and teach you how to play different sports and help you if you don't know how to play different sports.The skill that i learnt was how to bowl.Because if i didn't learn how to bowl i wouldn't bowl. The second skill that i learned was catching.If we didn’t learnt how catch our hands will hurt. Thank you coaches  for making this happen.I learned how to bat and pitch the ball.

It is important that we show respect because we won't have any friends and we won't have this school and the Chromebooks.If our principal di'int build this school we would have no school in GI.So that is why we should show respect so we can have all the stuff that we need.We should also respect our family.If we don't respect our family they might get mad or even get sad.It is also important that we  should respect other people in the world.We should also respect our teachers that are in the school because so they don't get mad at us so that is why we should respect other people in the world.

Year 5/6 Camp Writing

This week our writing is about school camp.School camp is like sleeping in a tent at school and doing fun activities and making connections with each other in our group.Camp is having fun with each other and making connections.
My favourite activity was the wheels because when I go on the scooter I go blazing fast.

favourite food that we had was Spaghetti on toast because the dripping sauce was dripping down on my plate.

Holiday recount

In the holidays my brothers and I went to Swimmarama with my Nan. One day we went to the Movies at Sylvia Park with my cousin. We watched Ralph breaks the internet.My cousin stayed for 2 days.

On Christmas day I baked cookies with my aunty .Then my Nan came with some presents.We opened the presents and in the wrapping was chocolate and clothes.A few minutes ago my uncle came and he also got us chocolates.But in the card was 50 dollars.Then we set everything up.Later my aunty and uncle and cousins came and they also got us presents.In my present i got lip balms and some clothes.A few minutes ago my other cousins came.Then we started playing bingo.Then everybody else came.Then we started playing another game.You had to right your name on a bottom of a cup.If you get the ball in a cup that person has to drink some juice.

Another day we went to the  Pools with my cousin and aunty and my brothers.We went on the slide and to the bombing pool.Then we went back on the slide.Then we had lunch and it was KFC.Then we went back to the pool and had a swim.Then we had one more swim before we went home.It was really fun.But before we went we got changed then we went home.My cousin went home with his mum.When we got home i had a sleep.

Another day we went up North with my cousins.It was a really long drive.When we got there we put up our tent with everybody else.Then we went to the beach.One night we went to the beach to catch some fish.It was really fun.When we cached some fish we went back.Then we went to sleep.When it was the next day we had breakfast.After breakfast everyone went to the beach.When we got to the beach we got our boards and started going over the waves.It was really fun.Then after we went to a lake.When we got to the lake it looked like Coca Cola.Because it was called Coca Cola lake.We played in the lake all day.When it was time to go i got out of the lake.Then i got dry and went back to the house.We stayed there for a week.On Monday we went back home.When we got back home we went inside but my mum and dad stayed outside.When we went in my auntys room we watched Now you see me.

And that was my holiday.

If I could take my family anywhere in the world it would be California because it is a really nice place and I would really want to go there and it would be really   fun. The only reason I want to go to California is because I haven't been there before and i really want to go there and I think my family would love it and when I come back to school I can wright about it and put in on my blog so everyone could see that I went to California and so they know it was a really nice holiday.
